Full-arch dental implant
All On 4 & All On 6

The ideal dental restoration solution for those who have lost all their teeth: only 4 or 6 implants per jaw, providing strong chewing function and a natural, aesthetically pleasing appearance like real teeth.

Complete tooth loss not only affects eating but also causes serious consequences such as tooth misalignment, malocclusion, jawbone resorption, affecting facial aesthetics, making one look older than their age, difficulty speaking, impaired communication, inability to chew, and decreased health and mental well-being.

1. What is full-arch dental implant surgery?

Full-arch dental implant is a restorative technique for people who have lost all the teeth in the upper jaw, the lower jaw or both. Depending on the case, the dentist places 4 or 6 implants in each jaw to restore the full arch.

1.1. All-On-4 Full Arch Implant System

Unlike the single implant procedure which requires placing multiple implants to restore all missing teeth, the All-On-4 implant system only requires placing 4 implants in each jaw in areas with stable bone density to ensure that the force is evenly distributed throughout the jaw. Then, a full set of 10-12 porcelain crowns is placed on top of those 4 implants.

1.2. All-On-6 Full Arch Implant System

The All-On-6 full-arch implant system is an evolution of the All-On-4 method, designed for cases of complete upper or lower jaw loss where the jawbone is too weak. With this method, the dentist will implant six dental implants into each jaw to create a prosthetic set of 12-14 porcelain teeth in each jaw. The All-On-6 implant system provides better support, greater stability, and ensures effective eating function.

2. Advantages of full-arch dental implant surgery

The full-arch implant method is trusted and chosen by professionals and patients alike due to the following outstanding advantages:

2.1. Minimize pain and perform the procedure quickly.

Full-arch implant procedures like All-On-4 and All-On-6 involve fewer surgeries, requiring only 4-6 implants to restore the entire arch. This results in a faster procedure time, minimal or no sinus lift or bone grafting, and less damage to the jawbone.

2.2. Restoring natural chewing function and aesthetics

  • Unlike other methods, All-On-4 and All-On-6 implants not only restore missing teeth but also help distribute chewing force evenly across the entire set of teeth, making chewing easier, more comfortable, and feeling just like with natural teeth.
  • Dental implants are crafted to resemble natural teeth, with the porcelain crown attached to the implant meticulously designed, featuring a translucent white color for superior aesthetics.

  • Long-term tooth loss can lead to misalignment of teeth, severe jawbone resorption resulting in sunken cheeks, a receding chin, sagging skin around the mouth, and an overall older appearance. Full-arch dental implants help prevent bone loss and aging, giving the face a fuller and more youthful look.

“Oral health is the gateway to overall health,” therefore, full-arch dental implants also help improve health and reduce digestive problems.

2.3. Saving costs and time

In terms of cost, full-arch dental implants are generally more expensive than removable dentures or dental bridges. However, these methods require replacement after a certain period, while dental implants can last a lifetime without needing frequent replacements, provided proper oral hygiene is maintained.

Furthermore, the All-On implant method is significantly more cost-effective than the method of placing multiple individual implants, while still ensuring stability in chewing and aesthetics.

2.4. Sustainable over time

With proper care and techniques, dental implants can last a lifetime.

In addition, the dentures are fixed (screwed) to the abutment, and can be easily removed for repairs or routine cleaning without having to break them or affect oral health.

3. Cases where full-arch dental implants are recommended and not recommended.

3.1. When is a full-arch dental implant procedure recommended?

  • A person who has lost all their teeth in one or both jaws.
  • This service is for people who are experiencing problems using removable dentures and dental bridges, or who do not need these two options.
  • Patients with severe periodontal disease may require the extraction of all teeth (in this case, the periodontal disease will be treated before proceeding with full-arch dental implant surgery).

4. DSG surgical guide at San Dentist – Minimizing the risk of complications when placing full-arch dental implants.

With the goal of continuously improving and providing solutions to enhance the success rate of dental implant procedures, the San Dentist team has effectively applied DSG surgical guide (Digital Surgical Guide) in the field of dental implant surgery. This is a surgical guide designed specifically for each patient, to assist the dentist in placing the implant safely and accurately. DSG surgical guide offers significant advantages over traditional implant methods, specifically:

In the treatment planning phase, the doctor uses computer software combined with Cone Beam CT scans and 3D scans of the patient’s mouth. From this, they determine the precise location and angle for implant placement in the jawbone, then transfer this information using 3D printing technology to create a surgical guide (DSG). This DSG guide has pre-drilled guide holes. During the surgery, the doctor needs to secure surgical guide in the patient’s oral cavity. Finally, the doctor drills and places the implant through these guide holes to achieve the precise position.

  • The surgeon doesn’t need to make incisions in the gums or dissect flaps; the surgery is less invasive.
  • The surgery time was shortened.
  • Rapid healing, minimal swelling, pain, and bleeding due to minimally invasive procedures.
  • Reduce complications such as peri-implantitis, food impaction, implant rejection, etc.
  • Increase the success rate of dental implant procedures.
  • Creating optimal conditions for restoration and providing high aesthetic appeal for dental crown restorations on implants.
